By late April the tuna and mahi mahi fishing heats up. Rooster fish and red snapper and snook can be caught all year around, with February through November being the best time.
 
Giant yellowfin tuna start to show up throughout the west coast sometime in April and remain available into the summer months. Inshore species such as roosterfish, snapper, mackerel, jacks and amberjack are also available throughout the year.
 
The Caribbean coast is renowned for it's tarpon and snook fishing with the action concentrated in the jungle rivers and just outside their mouths. Tarpon are available throughout the year with the best from March into October. Calba a small species of snook are plentiful from December through January, while the best time for larger snook is during October and November.
